Beauties of the Wachau

Your journey through the Wachau begins in Göttweig, the masterpiece of Austrian baroque, which offers a beautiful view of the landscape of Wachau valley and the river Danube thanks to its location. During the guided tour you will see among other things the calvary, abbey church, crypt and cloisters. Subsequently you will head to the city of Krems, the capital of apricots, where you will enjoy a walk in the pedestrian zone in the old part of the town. Here you will have enough free time to taste the apricot liqueur or Green Veltline wine. The journey will then continue to Dürnstein, the most famous wine village of the Wachau Valley. After a walk around the town you may admire the famous monastery. Afterwards you will return back to the ship.

Melk, Wachau

The visit in the baroque monastery of Melk is definitely the peak of the trip. You will also visit the Marble Hall, the church and the world famous library which contains over 80,000 pieces of literature and a stunning ceiling paintings. From the terrace you have an impressive view of the valley of the Danube river. Your free time can be used to visit the gardens. Wachau extends from Melk to Krems. After driving approximately 30 kilometer the way along the river Danube you will see the Dürnstein monastery. After the exterior sight-seeing of the monastery and a walk through the town famous for the wine you will continue by bus to Krems, Austrias capital of apricots. A beautiful pedestrian zone in the old town invites you for a walk durinf your free time. You can also try local apricot-brandy and one of the most famous Wachau wines.

Melk Abbey

Above the town of Melk on the Danube, you may spot a magnificent baroque building. The bus will transports you comfortably to the Benedictine monastery of the early 18th century. During the visit with a guide and you will see the Cathedral, the Marble Hall and the famous library with more than 80,000 works of literature and a stunning ceiling paintings. There is an impressive view of the valley of Danube river from the terrace. In your spare time you can visit the countryard and the garden. A Shuttle bus will take you back to the ship.
